Learn to Grow Like a Lobster
Did you know that we can learn about personal growth by observing a lobster???⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a lobster grows, it eventually becomes too large for it's shell. Since the shell - or exoskeleton - does not grow, the lobster must shed it's shell - or molt - in order to continue to grow. To do this, the lobster squeezes between two rocks, breaks it's shell open, and flexes back and forth until it can back out of it's old shell. It then hides to protect itself from predators, until it can develop a new exoskeleton. The lobster continues to go through this process throughout their life, shedding its shell over and over again, to enable it to continue to grow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Similarly, over time we eventually outgrow parts of ourselves. We may outgrow jobs, friends, relationships. We may outgrow old ways of thinking, behaving, reacting, and seeing the world. And when we do change, it can be hard - just like shedding on'es skin. It may take being stuck between a rock and a hard place, struggling back and forth until you are able to squeeze your way out, and then keeping yourself safe until you are strong enough and secure enough in the new you before venturing back out into the bigger world.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So if you are feeling like your surroundings don't fit you anymore. If you have outgrown your current jobs, friends, relationships, way of thinking, behaving, reacting, and seeing the world - then take it from a lobster! Allow yourself to crack open, go through the struggle to get yourself out, find a place to recover and recharge, and reenter the world as the new (bigger) you.
