Icy Cone

One day, after picking up my daughter from day camp, I took her to get some ice cream and pizza.

Once there, she decided to get an icy instead of ice cream, and she asked if she could have it on a cone.  I said, “I don’t think you can do that.”  (As if I have not dedicated my life to teaching that people should pursue their desires despite what other people say. Smh.)  My seven-year-old, very wisely, suggested that we ask anyway.  I quickly realized my error and agreed.

I asked if she could have an icy on a cone and told the confused cashier that I would pay extra for the cone.  She obliged.  As we walked home, icy cone in hand, I asked my daughter if she could find the lesson in what just happened.  She said: If someone tells you that you can’t do something or they have never seen it done before, you should try it anyway if you really want it.

 Yes, little one. Yes!
